Meet Dr. Nyquist

My greatest passion within orthodontics is rooted in my desire to connect with others and build relationships with patients and their families. Nothing is more exciting than unveiling a new smile that makes a patient truly proud. It is a privilege and joy to be a part of this journey with patients toward a beautiful and healthy smile.

I am committed to the highest standard in quality of care in our office. However, it is not just about straightening teeth, but about your overall experience. I am dedicated to making every visit an enjoyable part of your day.

Mark Twain said it best when he said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I am incredibly grateful that I found a profession that gives me this.

Education and Experience

My initial interest in the oral healthcare field, and specifically orthodontics, was my experience with my own orthodontist as a patient in my teenage years. I still remember the incredible feeling of getting my braces off and that feeling left an impression on me. I thought it would be a remarkable profession to be able to have this impact on people each and every day—and it has been!

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology – University of Kentucky, 2009
  • Doctorate of Medical Dentistry – University of Kentucky, 2013
  • Master of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics – University of North Carolina, 2016

I have been practicing orthodontics for six years, the last five of which were in Nolensville, TN, where I gained experience treating a wide array of cases using traditional braces and Invisalign. I am very excited to be joining Dr. Sjursen and the team at Hillsboro Orthodontics and look forward to continuing to build upon the tradition of excellence in service to patients and exceptional orthodontic care.

I am committed to lifelong learning and regularly participate in continuing education to stay informed about the latest advances in orthodontics and dentistry. I participate in meetings and virtual lectures through my involvement in several professional organizations:

  • American Association of Orthodontics
  • American Board of Orthodontics
  • Southern Association of Orthodontists
  • American Dental Association
  • Tennessee Dental Association
  • Tennessee Association of Orthodontists
  • North Carolina Orthodontics Alumni Association

Outside the Office

I am originally from Paducah, KY but my husband James and I have lived in Nolensville for the past five years.  We have been married for ten years and have three children: Brooks, Marcie, and Miller.

Outside of the office, I primarily enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. During the spring, you can find me at the baseball fields cheering on our oldest two children. During the summer, we love spending time on Kentucky Lake and Smith Lake with our family. We also love traveling to new places and cheering for the UK Wildcats!

I have been an active member at Southpointe Community Church in Nolensville for several years and regularly participate in fellowship groups and outreach programs/activities organized by the church. Being an active part of my community has always been important to me. A community is only made great by people who deeply care and actively participate to constantly make it better, and I love being a part of that movement.
